A deceptively simple-looking fitting—what appears to be nothing more than an elongated piece of metal—this 72" Galvanized Tension Bar is, in fact, one of the most essential components in the making of a 6' chain link fence. Without these bars, the fabric of your fence will hang loosely, allowing animals and people to crawl under with ease.

So how does it work? First, you must install your terminal posts, line posts, and top rails, and fit the terminal posts with tension bands. Next, unroll your chain link fabric and stand one end up of it against one of the terminal posts. Keep it in this position. Now, feed the tension bar vertically through the post's tension bands and, at the same time, through the "knuckles" at the edge of the fabric. Use this same technique to install a second tension bar at the opposite end of the fabric. Doing so will produce tension that'll stretch the fabric and provide the security required of your fence.

Two tension bars are required for each stretch of chain link fabric. A bar must be installed at every corner, end, and gate post. As mentioned, this 72" Galvanized Tension Bar is designed for 6' chain link fences. It is made of long lasting, rust resistant metal.

Instructions

Once you have installed your post, framework and top rail, you will take the end of the chain link fabric and place it up to the terminal post. Start at the top of the chain link fabric and insert the tension bar down through the bands and the weave of the chain link until you get to the bottom. You will then tighten all the tension and end bands to hold the tension bar in place.
